BIO

Zhuohui (Jerry) Chen is a Ph.D. student in Information Studies at the University of Maryland, advised by Dr. Zubin Jelveh. His research asks when large language models can be trusted with high-stakes decisions. He studies LLM agents as forecasters, defenses that protect those agents against prompt injection, and the reliability of LLMs as annotators of text for social science research. Before his Ph.D., Zhuohui spent three years as a Research Analyst at the International Monetary Fund, where he built forecasting models for central banks. He holds a Master of Public Administration, an M.A. in Translation Studies, a B.S. in Computer Science, and a B.A. in English.
